I wanted to get a little radio for the garden so decided to give this one a try after returning a different one that didn't work. The radio itself feels pretty solid and well built, I gave it an initial charge via the usb plug and have been using it for a couple of weeks now and haven't had to recharge it yet so the little solar panel appears to be working keeping it topped up. It picks up plenty of stations and there's a green light that comes on when you find one. Both the torch and the light under the solar panel work well and are bright and it has a flashing SOS strobe setting. The only minor negative thing I have found is that the sound quality is a little bit tinny but to be honest I wasn't expecting a thumping bass and it's probably about right for this style of radio, having said that it is quite loud if turned up and more than ample for the garden or a picnic. It has a micro usb charging port (lead supplied) and a headphone socket, there's also a usb A socket as well although I haven't used it. If you are looking for a little very portable radio for the garden, tenting or just a day in the park then I would happily recommend this one. Another point to note is that when I received it I asked the seller a question and they were quick to respond and very helpful too. For the price paid you get a lot for your money. An easy 5

This is a great little wind up radio. It charges by led battery or solar panel, or even mains. It has am/fm wavelengths, a reading light and torch, so it's a really essential piece of kit. I've been using it whilst out in the garden, but will be taking it camping and coracling too. It's robust, can withstand a few knocks, comes with a handy strap and charger. Great value too. I wouldn't be without it now.

This thing is great, its basically an endlessly powered radio and we used it last weekend whilst camping and wow it saved us once we drained all our standard battery packs.
Charges with crank and solar.
Easy to us.
Good volume, sound quality is decent enough for this size.
Even the light is pretty strong too.
This covers everything.

I’m really impressed with this multi-purpose device from Prunus, which is packed with useful features that work very effectively.
Wherever you look on this ‘radio’ there are useful aspects to make your life easier, especially if using it for camping. It can be powered in four ways - fab! So it gives you total flexibility for any occasion. something for every possible situation you might need it. Firstly it’s rechargeable via USB cable (USB plug not supplied, but we’ve all got one these days), secondly It can be wound up in an emergency for short term use, thirdly it can be charged by solar power, and fourthly if all else fails you can insert standard 3 x AA batteries (not supplied - remember to switch to Li-ion mode when using standard batteries). The radio has two lights, the small solar positional panel light at the top and the main beam light, which also has a handy flashing light feature, so if you’ve ever broken down or need to identify a hazard whilst out and about at night it’s ideal for that purpose too.
The radio works well, with good sound quality for such a small package, especially as it is a multi-use device, which somehow I wasn’t expecting that. It also has a USB interface, so you can use it as speakers to play music from other devices, as well as using as a power bank for device charging if needed. As an added extra, it also has a safety alarm function, which can be easily activated if needed (though perhaps ideally it could be a tad louder).
In summary, this is an excellent quality multi-functional device and can be used for many occasions. On your hols, out in the garden, in the park, on the beach, when travelling' in fact anywhere you like really. It is really robustly made, straight-forward to use and I would recommend it for anyone old or young (or anything in-between!). For the quality and the functionality I think it’s good value for money and would make an ideal gift too. Highly recommended with 5 ⭐️

Really pleased with the performance of this radio. Let's be honest a £29 wind up radio isn't going to be competing with Bose, so the bar for my audio quality expectations wasn't set too high. That being said I've been using it for work over the past 2 weeks and it performs good enough to replace my similarly sized rechargeable Dab radio that I used previously - the channel selection is obviously less as its not Dab, but the sound quality is better. I have yet to plug it in to charge yet; I have wound it up a few times prior to switching on, and have popped up the solar 'panel' (although not really sure if this will be charging it indoors) and so far I have received many many hours usage from just a handful of winds. Its really good. Wish I'd got one sooner....

For my kids this was like looking at a prehistoric artefact. They did actually enjoy tuning it in. It's a perfectly serviceable standard radio. The usp is the solar panel and the crank handle. Without wanting to sound like a total nut job (here it comes) - there is a bit of me that is a little worried about fuel supplies and energy costs in the next couple of years and I do wonder if we might hit some days (or longer?) with blackouts in the coming years. I really like the idea that I have a proper way of getting info if that were to happen. Yup, that did make me sound like a nut job didn't it?! Either way, good portable radio before or after armageddon!

It is a wonderful device, never requiring batteries and yet providing a torch and LED panel which would be idea to read by - plus a very loud alarm accompanied by the flashing torch. Plus, of course,AM and FM radio!
The quality of the sound is very good for such a small radio.
The internal batteries can readily be charged by turning the crank handle – and will also be topped up by the solar panel. Three AA batteries (not supplied) provide another way of powering it.
And you can use it to top up the charge of your smart phone.
I could see this becoming very popular with campers and walkers – and would be very useful for those countries with limited or sporadic electricity supply. The audio alarm (with flashing light!) would prove most useful in many circumstances

I spend at least half my life off-grid with no access to mains power so rely on on 12v leisure batteries and USB power banks, plus solar in the summer months and always look out for gadgets which can run on alternative power sources. I ordered the original wind-up FreePlay radio back in 2009 which is still in use and this is an updated, improved and higher-spec version of it with additional features.
At 15x9x4.5cm approx, it is a highly portable radio which can be powered by its internal lithium-ion battery which, itself can be recharged via micro-USB, solar or hand-cranking using the winding lever on the reverse, or three AA batteries (not supplied). In practice, it takes a lot of winding to recharge the battery but is a viable option in an emergency. For general radio use, I found simply leaving the solar panel facing into daylight - not necessarily the sun because it will also recharge in cloudy weather and even through a window, tends to keep up with radio usage. At it charges, the red LED on the front illuminates.
FM reception is good and I found that I didn't even need to raise the antenna. Volume is good and for my own personal listening, I didn't need to turn the volume dial beyond 25% so volume should be more than ample for any user, including a group. AM reception isn't as good but that's due to the areas I used it in and matches reception from other radios. Sound quality is also good, particularly for speech and background music, but it isn't Hi-Fi quality - not that I could expect it on a portable radio. There's a 3.5mm headphone jack for private listening plus a USB-A out port for recharging a phone from the internal 2500mAh battery (not the AAA batteries), but with a typical smartphone now having a 4000-5000mAh battery this will only provide a partial charge at best - but ample for an emergency situation.
Other features include a 5-LED background light beneath the flip-up solar panel and the solar panel still charges while this is raised. There's also a single LED torch with a short-range but perfectly adequate for nightly use eg finding way around a campsite plus a loud SOS siren alarm. The radio can be used with the either or both the background LED spots on and/or the torch making the radio ideal for off-grid camping use, or similar. The hand-cranking lever can also double as a stand for supporting the radio on uneven surfaces.
This is a very handy radio with good build quality from the known Prunus radio brand which I would highly recommend. In the future, I would also like to see a more rugged and splashproof version of this for the outdoor market.

To be honest I wasn't really expecting a great deal, so it delivered far exceeding my expectations. It is bright yellow - it reminded me of that transformer/bot Bumble bee - it's quite snazzy looking. It allows you to recharge the device in many different ways which allows a lot of scope! Firstly it has a small solar panel on the top - this will keep its inner battery ticking over (so the manual says) rather than the radio working. Secondly it can be recharged via 3x AA batteries (compartment at the back). Next you can recharge it via a USB/micro-USB cable (supplied) and lastly it can be charged by a hand crank. These are all great options and I'll probably mostly use the last option most because I'll be keeping it down the allotment with me most days! It has 2 different lights on it - one headlight on the front which is quite powerful and the a desk reading light which is found when you lift up the solar panel. Both useful! There's also an SOS setting - so it emits a screeching noise and the front light flashes let's hope I'll never have to use this useful little function (as it will soon hurt the ears of anyone nearby)!
So... probably most importantly... how good is the radio? It's pretty good - ok so it is NOT DAB (hey what do you want for this money - the moon on a stick?) But it performs just about as well as other radios of a similar size and price and has all of the other features too. As long as it receives the main BBC stations (it does) then I am happy.
All in all a great little radio with a nice array of functions.

Cracking little wind up radio, use it in the garden has a decnet enough sound even for outdoors, has soler charging or wind up charging both equally work as good as the next.
Once charged will last for days, easy too use as its basically two nobs one for tuning and one for volume basic but effective.
Very sturdy little unit made with good quality materials, touch works well handy to have especially if your are camping or somthing like that.
Very happy with this little radio good price good quality would recommend.

According to the box this radio arrives in, PRUNUS was the top-selling radio brand on Amazon worldwide in 2021 – visit the Amazon PRUNUS store to learn the story of the brand (why it is named for the Prunus tree) and view the wide range of radios currently on offer. This J-369 radio is a specialist niche model that is designed for use primarily when you are away from home, but it is ideal in everyday emergencies when the mains power may be off for a while. The J-369 radio is compact yet big enough to house it's many features which include various power methods including a rechargeable 2500mAh battery that can be charged by a hand-crank, solar panel or micro-USB port. There is also the option of using 3 AA batteries instead of the rechargeable lithium one – simply switch between the two power sources. The radio also features an LED torch and reading light, and it has an SOS mode than sounds a loud audible alarm as well as lighting up – there is also a USB-A port to allow the radio to be used as an emergency power-bank phone charger. The radio section has a simple AM/FM tuner with no DAB – you wouldn't expect it on this type of device – and the audio quality is just about acceptable but better for speech than music; you wouldn't want to listen to it on a regular daily basis. Currently around thirty pounds from Amazon this PRUNUS J-369 emergency radio is a perfect camping companion and handy to keep at home for use in emergencies; although far from being the best sounding radio in the world this J-369 model does offer a lot for your money and is well-designed for it's purpose. Five stars for features and value at the price.

Here is a fine example of a well-made, good sounding multifunction portable analogue radio with a choice of power options and some useful additional features built in.
There are three selectable options of power sources – 3 x AA battery, built-in lithium battery with built-in solar charging panel, DC 5V mains input (USB/micro USB cable supplied). There is also a wind-up handle on the rear for manually charging up the lithium battery.
Other inputs/outputs on the side of the radio are a 3.5mm headphone socket and a USB slot for charging external devices such as mobile phones.
On the front panel is a switch for the small (single LED) torch located on the side of the radio, and this switch also activates the SOS alarm which continues to sound until turned off.
The other front panel switch control selects the AM/FM channel and radio OFF. The FM/AM channel dial is also clear and easy to read.
On the top is the FM telescoping arial and a small solar panel which, when lifted up, hides a useful 5 LED torch light.
The reception is good with the FM antenna extended and sound quality is clear and crisp with no tinniness sometimes found on small speakers – note that there is only one speaker on the front though, the grill on the left is the actual speaker while that on the right is just a dummy grill for effect.
For a low cost portable multi power radio this is highly recommended.

Y****!
This is an impressive product.
Some years ago, I saw how life was being transformed in developing nations with wind-up radios. I wanted one in case of a power cut or a natural disaster.
This product seems to have it all. It is well built. It feels great when holding the radio.
Radio
The radio was great. When I was turning the frequency knob, everytime it found a channel the light would go green. My only bug bear, is I don't know why they put an analogue radio?. Why not a digital FM/AM radio with RDS? (or even better with DAB). This is a brilliant product, but it would have made it more spectacular. The radio will work with the antenna not opened up, I did hear a low level hiss, but when you do open, the radio reception gets better.
Sound Quality
The speaker was generally okay. I think my mobile phone has more dynamic sound. I had the radio next to the computer and it seem to cope with the interference from my PC.
Power Sources
It has multiple source of power. It has a built-in battery, which can power up the radio and TWO lights or it can charge your phone. It also has a solar power. It also has a compartment for 3 x AA batteries.
Before going on a trip, you can charge up the radio.
It also has a wind-up hand crank. I tried this and noticed a red light come on, so it was charging up. I don't know how much charge I was generating..... (it would be nice to have an indicator).
Lights
It has two lights. A Torch this is great for high intensity light. It has a clever pull up flap, which can light up a room (at low level). The pull-up light is good for say writing a diary, reading a book or reading a map (close up work). Whilst the light seems to illuminate the room, it does not illuminate the radio itself (e.g. radio channel or the radio button).
Headphone socket - it has that too!
Powerbank - I was able to charge up my phone with phones which have a micro-USB or USB-C.
Battery Level - there is no indicator on how much charge is in the built-in power bank. Nor is there an indication on if the solar is contributing the the power.
USB cable - I don't know why they included this. Most people have plenty of USB cables. Unless there was a neat compartment to store the cable in the radio.
SOS - there is a kind of SOS siren on here.
Wriststrap - it comes with one, so you can hand it somewhere.
Real button - I like the fact it has real button. It has a real turning knob for the volume etc...

This radio does a lot in a small package. You can power it many ways. By standard AA batteries, by charging the built-in battery. By the hand crank. It does have a solar panel, although it states this is more for maintaining the internal battery as it would take a long time to fully charge by itself. The radio has an LED torch built into the side. It also has 5 LED lights under the solar panel, so once you flip up the panel the lights come on and you have ambient reading light. This is all impressive stuff (to me anyway). How is the actual Radio part? Pretty good, in less than a minute I'd found 4 stations on FM. Sound quality is sharp and clear. Good enough for the price and for emergency/camping use. There's an SOS alarm, that produces a loud sound similar to an attack alarm siren. Very loud. It's not water-resistant which is a shame, but it's still a great package overall.

This radio comes well packaged in a printed cardboard box.
The radio is very well made from solid plastic and is yellow and black in colour. I love this little radio and have been using it out in the garden since I was given it to test. On putting up the aerial which has a good length, I easily tuned into Classic FM. The sound quality is very good and there was no distortion. You can get both AM and FM stations.
The radio can be powered by three AA Batteries. The batteries are not supplied so you will need to have the batteries already or will need to purchase some. It has a solar panel on the top so when it is used out in the sun it charges the internal lithium ion battery. You can also charge it using the supplied Standard USB-A cable. There is also a hand crank on the back so it can also be powered in the case of emergencies, by simply turning the handle.
The radio is also a light which is positioned on the side, so it can be used as a torch when camping. There is also an SOS loud alarm great for attracting attention, it is quite load.
It is quite light weight to travel with, but solid enough that it sits firm. It comes with a small easy to follow manual but it is very easy to use anyway. It is the best of these style radios that I have been given to test so far. It has descent firm control buttons not the rubbery buttons found on some designs.
I have had no issues at all with this radio it worked straight away out of the box. I am extremely pleased with it. I love using it in my garden and house. It makes an alternative to watching the TV, without the electrical expense.
I hope you find my review useful. Thanks

This clockwork/USB/solar-powered radio (with the option to run this using battery power) is a good, neat little thing. I got this for my Dad to use out in the garden, and the compact size and cordless design are ideal for this purpose.
To power this, you need to crank it for 3-5 minutes, or charge it via USB for an hour. The crank is easy to use and feels reasonably sturdy. This has a smooth action.
The radio has both USB input and output ports, so this can draw power from a power bank/mains/a device, or be used to help e.g. charge a phone.
The controls are generally easy to use, though it’s slightly counter intuitive that there is no power switch and the only way to turn this off is to flick a switch to an AA battery setting (instead of using the inbuilt rechargeable power source), with the battery compartment empty.
