PRUNUS J-150 Radio Reviewed in the United States on August 12, 2023 From CWS VINE VOICE:
Compact, Good Sound with Nice Features
I’ve had great interest in radio’s since I was a kid, and that’s a long, long time ago.
I honestly can’t remember all the radio’s that I have owned over the decades, I just really love them, and I’ve had everything from old tube consoles, to the tiniest of solid state devices that will fit in the smallest of pockets.
This little radio from Prunus caught my eye and I thought it would be well worth the purchase. It’s a small radio, looking great on your night stand or bookshelf and it sounds very good for being so small. Not exactly high-fidelity, but it does sound pretty good to my ears.
Receiving AM, FM, SW (5.9-18.0MHz), and can play music via an SD card or the USB port (‘thumb drive), it provides clear sound, with good base. It will also act as a Bluetooth receiver for play reception when paired with your smart phone or other device with Bluetooth transmit ability.
You can charge this attractive little radio via your USB charger or it can use two D-cells for longer play time. A small, short charge cord is included, but no charger.
The PRUNUS J-150BT is attractively styled with a vintage faux wood housing and bright copper-toned front bezel and chrome-like knobs, slide switches and buttons. A frequency scale with slide indicator is provided for receive frequency.
On the left side are recessed indicators for charge and power and both USB and TF slots as well as the USB-C charge port.
The back has a removable panel that exposes the battery compartment, where two D-cells can be installed for longer play time. The rechargeable lithium-ion cell is also installed there and it looks removable, but I don’t see any information for it’s replacement or for a spare. There is however a five-digit number printed at the bottom of the battery bay, so perhaps it may be available either through the manufacturer or other source.
One feature that I wish they had included was a lighted frequency scale. That would have been a nice touch to add to this radio’s vintage charm. As a little guy, I remember well the warm glow of my old radio’s frequency scale.
Oh, I almost forgot, there’s a nicely designed handle at the top. Not only does it provide for a nice way to carry the radio, but it also supports your smart phone when it is paired.
In addition, a short telescoping antenna is located at the back, top edge. Although the reception is quite good for AM and FM reception without extending the antenna, I imagine its use would provide some improvement if you have poor reception in your area. It might also be necessary for short-wave reception.
I like this little radio. As mentioned it could be a bit better; but, it receives well, sounds good and look great; and finally, a rather nice multi-lingual, illustrated instruction manual is provided.

PRUNUS J-150 Radio Reviewed in the United States on July 8, 2023 From Amy:
More than a Radio, Play with Bluetooth, USB and TF card, Cute, Classic Style
This is a classic-looking radio, small and really cute, with very good reception and more than just a radio.
I like that it has the basic function of AM/FM and SW, plus added features not commonly found. At "Music" setting, it can pair with the Bluetooth of my phone. (Device name is J-150BT). Pairing is straight forward, quickly and easily get connected. I could use my phone to select an app to play music while the sound is coming from speaker of the radio. If you have a playlist on some app this will work fine. One advantage of this is that you could here from the radio, instead of keeping your phone so close to you for a long time. The sound through the Bluetooth is not as loud as from the phone though, but the quality is good.
Another way to use it as a player is using USB memory stick or TF card, with pre-loaded mp3 files, and it will play. I like that as it function like a MP3 player. The sound is much louder than when using Bluetooth. Quality of sound is very good, a decent player level but conveniently with a built-in radio.
Overall: I think it is excellent, as a radio and player. Also I like that it has a rechargeable Lithium-Ion battery (1200mAh). You could put in two D size battery but it will work without it if charged properly.
I would highly recommend it.

PRUNUS J-150 Radio Reviewed in the United States on July 5, 2023 From Home Studio :
Retro Style, Modern Function
I straight up love this little radio / bluetooth speaker. I'm old enough to remember when radios really looked like this (albeit much larger and real wood) so I really like the style. The radio reception is quite good (I primarily wanted this to listen to a classical music FM station while puttering around the house) and I like the fact that the aerial largely folds away when not in use. Bluetooth pairing was fast and flawless with my Mac computer. Similarly, when I tried playing music from a thumb drive, it just worked! Note that a thumb drive (and maybe any memory cards?) need to be in the FAT format.
The sound is adequate considering that this thing is small - not quite 7 inches wide. So if you're looking for booming bass, look elsewhere. It's not so much "room-filling sound" as "pretty good sound next to your elbow." But the sound is clear and voice reproduction is especially nice. This little thing can crank out quite a bit of volume, too, though the sound will distort at higher levels because of physics.
Note that when playing from a USB drive or memory card, there's no digital visual display so you'll be flying blind, though can skip ahead or back or fast forward / fast reverse. Just fine for a playlist, and I wouldn't expect more for this price.
It's rechargeable with an included USB cable or can alternately be powered with standard batteries (not included) so this thing is perfectly portable. Considering the low price and the various features, I'm very happy with this little radio / soundbox!

PRUNUS J-166 Radio Reviewed in the United States on September 4, 2022 From Mr.P
What a pleasant surpirse
I am pleasantly surprised by this $10 radio. It has very good sound quality and volume from the internal speaker. It also covers all of the AM and FM bands here in the USA.
The dial is not very accurate but many pocket radios like this one are the same. The frequency scale is just too small and getting a station well at times can take a little time to get it just right.
Another minor comment is that the speaker grill is partially blocked and the sound might be even better and a bit louder if the manufacturing process would open up the bottom four rows of holes. This looks like a case manufacturing issue, the holes are simply blocked by case plastic.
What I really like is that this radio uses only 2 AA batteries and I can use my rechargeable eneloop NiMH batteries in it and it works really well.
The biggest issue I have with this radio is the AM frequency scale.
The distance between the AM scale marking is about equal yet the frequencies between those marking is anything but equal. In other words the AM scale is marked as: 52 63 108 140 171 which represents the frequency ranges of:
11, 45, 32, and 31kHz while the numbers are approximately the same distance apart the frequency ranges are not even close to being equal except for the last two ranges 108-140 and 140-171MHz.
As for the FM scale on the web site we see: 87 80 98 98 108MHz, Huh? Don't worry, the radio's scale on the radio I received shows 87 90 96 102 108 or 3, 6, 6, and 6 MHz, much more linear than the AM scale.
I think that this is both a great radio to play with and it also sounds pretty darn good on FM I hope you'll enjoy this radio as much as I'm enjoying it.

Outstanding radio at a bargain price
I initially ordered the PRUNUS J-166 radio as a gift, but when I received it very quickly from Amazon I was delighted with the radio. It has a very sensitive tuner that picks up many AM and FM stations. What really stands out is the incredible sound out of such a small inexpensive package. I remember the old Japanese transistor radios from my youth and the tinny low quality sound that they produced. This radio has a clean modern design and the control knobs and wheels are tight and solid, not cheap and flimsy. It has an old school slide rule tuner but with digital signal processing. Another nod to modernity, the single earphone jack sends audio to both channels of modern 3.5mm earbuds and headphones. So you needn't listen to your monaural radio in only one ear. There is a battery strength LED and also a tuning LED to show when you've tuned a station in the best. I guarantee you will be blown away by the high quality sound you'll get from this radio, for under $10. I want another one just as a backup, it's so incredible.

Prunus j-166 amazing pocket radio
Purchased this Radio (prunus j-166) on the 18th Oct 2022 received the following day. Item came well packaged & in a nice branded box with clear instructions inside. I was not expecting much for such a inexpensive radio however after putting in 2 AA batteries & tuning it in I was amazed at the sound quality coming through the single mono speaker. I have 2 other pocket radios & after tuning them all in to the same station "smooth radio" The prunus won hands down for sound quality the other 2 sounded tinny in comparison where the prunus j-166 had a nice balanced tone
which filled the room (kitchen) as I was having my breakfast Also the Prunus managed to find more Fm stations with less effort than my other 2. I put this down to having a chip inside "forgot the name" and having a longer sturdier aerial. I also like & prefer the fact that this is powered by 2 AA batteries where my other 2 have an inbuilt battery where you charge at the wall meaning when the internal battery dies the radio becomes redundant. This will be my go to kitchen/Camping radio from now on and would highly recommend to anyone who is after a inexpensive pocket radio.

PRUNUS J-985 Radio Reviewed in the United States on July 27, 2023 From Al Azose :
IT WORKS! MY CUTE BUT TINY BOOM BOX
A few weeks ago, I was jolted by a small earthquake here in Southern California, so I naturally searched for my transistor radio to see if there was any news about the location and severity. However, I couldn’t find that radio, in spite of my frantic search for it. That’s when I went to Amazon to find a new one, and I was bewildered by the vast quantity and variety available for sale. I decided I wanted a small but simple one, without that bothersome antenna, or fancy digitized controls. I finally spotted the tiny Prunus J-985 model, which was a basic analog transistor radio, with no speakers, and where the provided earbuds also served as the antenna. It had an on/off switch, an AM/FM switch, a tuner wheel for selecting the stations, and a sound volume wheel. In other words, all the basics with no additional bells and whistles to add to the cost. It also had a metal clip for sturdy attachment to clothing. It was very light weight, and very small…about two thirds the size of a deck of cards, and all for only $17. Perfect!
I decided to buy it anyway, because it also came with a DSP chip, That stands for Digital Signal Processor, which is supposed to be a chip primarily used in calculators. (I was sure it had its uses in radios as well.)
When the gizmo arrived, I inserted two rechargeable AAA batteries, attached the earbuds, and began listening. (Tip: Buy a good pair of lengthy earbuds, e.g. from Sony, because the longer wire makes for clearer sound and the ear pieces are more comfortable.) Bottom line? The unit worked well. Quality of sound? About what you’d expect for a 17 dollar analog transistor radio. After all, “analog” means simple or usual, and that’s what the quality was…simple and usual. Actually, it was better than I expected, because it picked up almost every station in the surrounding geographic area. I even had a little trouble focusing the tuner wheel to the stations that I wanted because there were so many nearby stations broadcasting their diverse signals. I listen to my favorite AM stations when I’m in my car, but I don’t think I’ll be using my little Prunus, until there’s another earthquake or power outage, etc. Why? Because the number of sequential commercials on AM radio is a real turnoff. Give me Youtube, where you can zap the commercials after a few seconds. Can’t do that with a radio. Still, five stars for my cute little boom box.

PRUNUS J-110 Radio Reviewed in the United States on August 12, 2022 From BLG:
Prunus nailed the vintage look of those early 60's table model radios from the likes of Admiral, Zenith and RCA....the large tuning dial with magnifying circle, gold tone knobs, the crown emblem, the faux woodgrain veneer....it's a beautiful thing to behold....
I fired up the trusty soldering iron, removed the back panel and voila! Two standard issue 5mm 3v LEDs...carefully removed those impostors and popped in two warm white beauties. Instant vintagey goodness!! All was right with the world again.
The radio itself is a fine performer...local and distant FM stations were pulled in without a problem. As for AM, on a clear night, I'm able to lock in WGN in Chicago, CFZM in Ontario and WSM in Nashville...almost 850 miles from my home in upstate NY. Not bad. Shortwave performs well...even better with a long wire clipped to the antenna. Results will vary. The speaker is rated at 5 watts and produces a nice clear tone. All of this and the ability to stream your music through Bluetooth, an aux input, a TF card or USB....at this price point? It's a winner. Highly recommend!

Happy Buy
I was looking for a radio that I could play in my kitchen with out static. For some reason it is hard to get good reception in certain rooms in my house, this radio solved the problem. I can get all my station even the ones that doesn't come in clearly on my old radio. The telescopic antenna helps. I like the fact that it has 3 ways to get power. It has a power cord so you can plug it into the wall, you can use regular batteries, and it has rechargeable batteries. The rechargeable batteries can be recharged by using the USB cable that comes with the radio or the AC power cord . The radio has 3 bandwidths, AM, FM, and SW , most radio that I looked at, comes only with FM band and I like to listen to AM too. Another great thing about this radio is that it has Bluetooth and you can control the phone or MP3 player with the buttons on top of the radio ( play/pause, previous, and forward). There are also slots for (USB) flash drive and TF cards. The play/pause, previous , and forwards buttons can be used for mode too. Another way which you can connect your MP3 or phone to the radio is with the auxiliary cable that comes with the radio. The portable radio is a nice size portable and the dial is easy to read.

Shortwave works too
I love the looks and heft of this radio. At around 3 pounds it feels like a radio should. I wanted this because my Prunus J-15 is my new favorite and this one was just too grogeous to pass up. You get all the modern stuff with a really classy looking and good quality retro build. The lit up blue dial is wonderful. The dial is smooth and even has the old style retro magnifying circle. What a great touch.
The shortwave is suprisingly good. Am or mw and FM bands are excellent. I can get some stations on this that my older more expensive radios cant pull in nearly as clear.
Blue tooth and micro sd work great. I have not tried the USB.
The speaker sounds full and rich. People I have played this for have been surprised with the sound quality. It can certainly produce enough quality sound to fill the room and my ceilings are high....this sounds better than most radios I have.
I have been using the built in recharegable battery. It really cant be accessed unless you take the radio apart...which I wouldnt advise....it has worked perfectly providing several hours on a charge. You could also use 2 D cell batteries or the cord it comes with to plug it in the wall. This radio will not charge D cells though so remove them if you plan to use a.c. current or the built in rechargeable.
SW is my favorite band. It really is perfectly fine on this radio. You will be able to recieve lots of stations if you turn that knob patiently in the evenings. It also picks up WRMI (Miami) and several others fine in daytime. I have some dedicated sw radios that do not pull in daytime sw nearly as clearly as this does. The sw band is 5.9 to 18 MHz. A decent range for a radio that pretty much does everything.
Prunus really makes quality radios that are affordable in my opinion. I love this radio!

Great Radio at an Affordable Price!
This radio/MP3 has "just about everything" one could want in a portable radio at an affordable price. What I like about it most is the large LCD readout which is very easy to read from a distance during normal daylight hours. But note, the LCD readout can't be illuminated thus making it difficult to see at night.
I would have to agree with some of the other reviews on the sensitivity of the radio. It does receive local broadcast signals on both AM/FM with good sound and clarity, but not so great at night where some radio enthusiasts find enjoyment in the hobby of DXing - long distance reception of radio stations, especially on the AM band. I am generally able to receive stations like WSB in Atlanta, GA just after sunset in the Rocky Mountain region, but have been yet to do so with this particular radio.
For listening to local stations on both AM and FM as well as playing your favorite MP3's, the radio provides a pretty good sound at acceptable volume and tone. The Hi/Lo tone switch does alter the sound somewhat and in my opinion, is really more suited for use when listening to the AM band or certain styles of music.
As per SW listening, there is still a lot of activity that can be heard, but I have thus far been unable to tune in anything with this radio such as WWV and WWVH. I was able to slightly hear the tick of WWV on 10 MHz for a short duration. SW is a fickle band however and there are a lot of factors other than a radio itself that control reception. Stations I have listened to in the past I have not yet been able to receive at all. I will continue trying to let the radio search for SW stations.
This radio is likely better suited for casual listening at picnics, BBQ's, sporting events, camping, and/or other social gatherings. Or even as a background radio while cooking or enjoying your favorite hobbies. It produces enough of a pleasing sound for these types of things. The portability and battery operation of the unit has allowed me to take it to the shop and to do chores.
Overall, the real feature of this radio is the large LCD display which for the elderly and vision impaired is a real plus. If you're looking for a radio/MP3 player that can do it all, spend the extra money and get something that has everything you need. For DXing, this radio isn't a good choice based upon my personal review. If you're looking for a radio that provides casual listening and portability, this may be a good choice for you.

Retro looking radio but it has powerful, loud speaker
This type of radio is fantastic. Its perfect for the elderly and tech -non-enthusiasts who struggle to set a radio using setting buttons. This radio is very simple to use. Volume up and down, turn the wheel to look for radio stations on AM, FM or SW frequency of switch for BT(Bluetooth option). Radio is portable, takes not much of space. The sound is impressively loud and clear. Not much bass in it as obviously its due to the size of the speakers. But in other handz this radio is extra loud! I couldnt believe, how loud it is for its petite size...
This battery operated radio can also be powered by DC5v adapter (not included). Only the rechargable usb C cable is included.
The radio comes with detailed instruction but even without it, I managed to use it easily.
If using the Bluetooth, we can leave phone on top of the radio, there is special holding place by the handle. But my phone with phone cade on, doesn't fit in it, i dont mind it any way.
All in all, its lovely little radio made of strong wood imitating plastic.
For the price, I'm very happy with this radio and can highly recommend it.

You'll be impressed how small it is. It receives radio stations nicely. Solid emergency radio.
I do not have to raise the antenna to receive most stations, and they come in very clearly; as clear as a digital signal through a cable. Granted, I do live in a major metropolitan area, close to radio transmitters, but not buried in the concrete of the thickest buildings.
My second picture shows it next to a similar radio available on Amazon. As you can see, it is slightly smaller, and it only has one speaker. This is good because used batteries from the bigger radio will continue to power it, even after they can't power the bigger radio. The batteries probably last a little longer because it only has the one speaker.
The contrasting styles also gives you and idea how 1980's this radio looks, which is a plus for me. Retro-looking electronics are fun.
If you ever fool around with a radio from the 80's, whether you were around back then or not, you will usually find that it has excellent reception. Good reception seems to have fallen off from most radios by the early 2000's, but this little radio easily receives signals as well as one of those old 80's radios, and with far less batteries.
Both radios receive signals as well as one another. The larger one is really just there to make my point about battery longevity. Clearly, the PRUNUS radio can fit in a slightly smaller nook or cranny. I like it a lot.
I keep it near the computer, and I easily turn it on while I work when the mood strikes me.

This is just about everything I wanted it to be
I've been looking for a classic radio second hand for a long time. They have been remarkably difficult to find, although they have to be mouldering in somebody's garage somewhere. This one is great because the audio dial is about as sensitive as I remember them being in the '80s.
It's also a pretty small radio, which makes it really easy to bring out when you're grilling.
It has space for batteries, and I ordered some rechargeable lithium ion D batteries from Amazon to go inside of it. It also came with an AC adapter included in the box so you can pretty much plug and play. It has your traditional AM/FM bands which is what I really wanted it for but it also has SW bands and I'll be honest with you I didn't even know what those were in the '80s but I had a radio just like this back then. It hits the nostalgia that I wanted with the manual tuner, which means that it'll work really well when I go to take it to drive-in movies and set up camp chairs for me and the kids.
It also includes an auxiliary in so you could hook up an iPod if you still had one or a Bluetooth dongle to play through your phone. It also has a DC 4.5 volt input, so if you've got one of those adapters in that box of wires that you've had since 1997, you could use that. It's also handy to know that information if you are trying to hook up to a solar panel or connect to another type of battery. I'm just thrilled with it. The only change I would make would be to build a rechargeable lithium ion battery into it.

I am in no way a doomsday prepper but a having a battery powered radio around seemed logical.
I like this radio, its simple, its battery powered and compact. I don't really plan on using it any time soon for anything other than camping a garage radio, it does make me feel a little more prepared that this one item could be the only thing I can use on battery if the power ever went off for any specific amount of time.
Its AM/FM and AC powered or you can use the battery. I am thinking that I would keep it in our garage along with our other emergency preparedness items. With everything now all electric and digital, this simple radio can step up and do what nothing else can.
I did try the volume on a radio station. It has pretty good sound, and our local station came in pretty clear. And I thought I should mention, trying it out was my intention, but I ended up fiddling around in the garage and listened to it for about an hour. I kinda laughed at how something so simple can do what we buy expensive devices to do, and of course convenience of ad free music. Great to have just in case!

First things first, the sounds quality is good. Take a look at my video. I was surprised by how good the sound was. Nice levels and enough bass, even for a portable speaker like this!
The speaker itself is easy to use and has a multitude of methods that you can use to get it to play music. Bluetooth, USB pendrive, microSD card, AUX cable or just your plain old radio. The radio is tuned the old fashion way, with a knob on the front that you twist to find the right channel. Very retro and very stylish!
The speaker volume is really good also. I could actually turn this thing up to the point where it’s obnoxiously loud! Really good if you’re wanting some loud music playing.
Overall, I’m really pleased with this. It looks amazing, has a variety of methods of playing music and has good volume and quality sound.

Good little work radio.
-Unboxing-
Packaging for this was very small and simple, no unnecessary extra cardboard and everything inside was packaged well and securely. Everything on the cover tell you everything you need to know and was (as far as boxes go) really nice. Inside was:
1 x Radio with LED Light
1 x 3 Pin UK Mains plug
1 x Manual
-Product-
This little radio is perfect for just something to have set up whilst working in the background. I do a lot of stuff outside and although its not waterproof (Not that I expected it to be) it does have a very clear sound which did take me by surprise!
The feel of the material is very 80s plastic sort of vibe, but I quite liked it. Being made of plastic was also nice and light instead of lugging a massive weighted radio around. It was small so can tuck out the way whilst I am working, and tuning was super simple giving you range of 4 different wave lengths. AM, FM and 2 x SM.
Turning on just plug into the mains or insert 3 x D size batteries if you wish to have it wireless and turn the volume knob till you hear the click. Then to tune select your wavelength and twist the dial on the side until you get a green light on the front. I had to move it super slowly to get a real fine tuning but its not the end of the world.
The LED light on the side is not like a floodlight however it was a lot brighter than I was expecting! A great feature I never would have thought to place on a radio but as the sun went down it was actually really useful and like this idea.
-Good points-
- Easy to setup
- Easy to use
- Good brightness
- Battery and Mains Powered
- Clear sound
- Loud
- Lightweight
-Bad Points-
- Cheap feel ( but I think that was deliberate)

Good little retro radio
It is small, vintage looking and has multiple audio sources. FM and Am reception work well but I could barely get any SW out of it, maybe if i added a long wire antenna then it would work better on SW. I did not try BT nor TF but assume they work fine. The sound does emit bass down to about 200hz depending on the levels set at the station, some stations are more tinny that others.
The outstanding part that I like is that it uses an 18650 Li-Ion battery that is easily replaced with a much higher mah version or when you have ready charged 18650's handy. For emergencies, this radio will always be ready and I will not have to worry about leaky batteries after a few years. A downside is that it does not have a headphone jack on it as the chip should be fully capable of stereo and on headphones it should sound much better. Another plus addition would be an external antenna connection.
Overall, it is handy and good to have.

Way better than my low expectations!
Getting some things on amazon seems like it's been hit or miss, quality-wise, these days. But...color me impressed. I am your typical Amazon shopper who gets a couple packages a week because she has a shopping addiction, and never really rates/reviews when she is happy with a product, and is too lazy to rate when something is crappy. However, this little radio/Bluetooth speaker is...perfect! (For me, anyways!)
It is so super friggin' compact and cute, with a very cool vintage feel to it. Found all my usual radio stations pretty easily, and I like that the tuner knob isn't so easily turned, if that makes sense. This way, you won't find yourself going back and forth, having over-/undershot the station you were aiming for, as you might with a tuner that's too sensitive.
Love that the radio station numbers are backlit - I remember how annoying it would be to try and see the numbers in a dimly lit room back in the day - so that was a nice touch.
The video attached to this review shows the different input options provided, along with the sound quality of some Spotify music via Bluetooth. I tried to move away and towards it to give you a better feel for the loudness. The Bluetooth itself connected effortlessly.
Came with an aux cord and charging wire with a usb-a end to plug into an appropriate charger. Came with some charge so I haven't tried charging it yet. It was well packaged and also included a helpful instruction manual.
Conclusion: I love it. It's classy, cute, and a perfect gift for the casual music lover in your life. (Aka not someone who scrutinizes and critiques bass/frequencies/pitch/etc for fun) For the average Joe, it's perfectly better than you'd acceptable from Amazon for this price point! I might gift some for bridesmaids' presents! :)

Nifty multi-functional device for almost any occasion
I’m really impressed with this multi-purpose device from Prunus, which is packed with useful features that work very effectively.
Wherever you look on this ‘radio’ there are useful aspects to make your life easier, especially if using it for camping. It can be powered in four ways - fab! So it gives you total flexibility for any occasion. something for every possible situation you might need it. Firstly it’s rechargeable via USB cable (USB plug not supplied, but we’ve all got one these days), secondly It can be wound up in an emergency for short term use, thirdly it can be charged by solar power, and fourthly if all else fails you can insert standard 3 x AA batteries (not supplied - remember to switch to "Li-ion" mode when using standard batteries). The radio has two lights, the small solar positional panel light at the top and the main beam light, which also has a handy flashing light feature, so if you’ve ever broken down or need to identify a hazard whilst out and about at night it’s ideal for that purpose too.
The radio works well, with good sound quality for such a small package, especially as it is a multi-use device, which somehow I wasn’t expecting that. It also has a USB interface, so you can use it as speakers to play music from other devices, as well as using as a power bank for device charging if needed. As an added extra, it also has a safety alarm function, which can be easily activated if needed (though perhaps ideally it could be a tad louder).
In summary, this is an excellent quality multi-functional device and can be used for many occasions. On your hols, out in the garden, in the park, on the beach, when travelling' in fact anywhere you like really. It is really robustly made, straight-forward to use and I would recommend it for anyone old or young (or anything in-between!). For the quality and the functionality I think it’s good value for money and would make an ideal gift too. Highly recommended with 5 ⭐️

Excellent solar/wind-up radio with additional features, ideal for off-grid use
I spend at least half my life off-grid with no access to mains power so rely on on 12v leisure batteries and USB power banks, plus solar in the summer months and always look out for gadgets which can run on alternative power sources. I ordered the original wind-up FreePlay radio back in 2009 which is still in use and this is an updated, improved and higher-spec version of it with additional features.
At 15x9x4.5cm approx, it is a highly portable radio which can be powered by its internal lithium-ion battery which, itself can be recharged via micro-USB, solar or hand-cranking using the winding lever on the reverse, or three AA batteries (not supplied). In practice, it takes a lot of winding to recharge the battery but is a viable option in an emergency. For general radio use, I found simply leaving the solar panel facing into daylight - not necessarily the sun because it will also recharge in cloudy weather and even through a window, tends to keep up with radio usage. At it charges, the red LED on the front illuminates.
FM reception is good and I found that I didn't even need to raise the antenna. Volume is good and for my own personal listening, I didn't need to turn the volume dial beyond 25% so volume should be more than ample for any user, including a group. AM reception isn't as good but that's due to the areas I used it in and matches reception from other radios. Sound quality is also good, particularly for speech and background music, but it isn't Hi-Fi quality - not that I could expect it on a portable radio. There's a 3.5mm headphone jack for private listening plus a USB-A out port for recharging a phone from the internal 2500mAh battery (not the AAA batteries), but with a typical smartphone now having a 4000-5000mAh battery this will only provide a partial charge at best - but ample for an emergency situation.
Other features include a 5-LED background light beneath the flip-up solar panel and the solar panel still charges while this is raised. There's also a single LED torch with a short-range but perfectly adequate for nightly use eg finding way around a campsite plus a loud SOS siren alarm. The radio can be used with the either or both the background LED spots on and/or the torch making the radio ideal for off-grid camping use, or similar. The hand-cranking lever can also double as a stand for supporting the radio on uneven surfaces.
This is a very handy radio with good build quality from the known Prunus radio brand which I would highly recommend. In the future, I would also like to see a more rugged and splashproof version of this for the outdoor market.

Bright and flexible portable radio
To be honest I wasn't really expecting a great deal, so it delivered far exceeding my expectations. It is bright yellow - it reminded me of that transformer/bot "Bumble bee" - it's quite snazzy looking. It allows you to recharge the device in many different ways which allows a lot of scope! Firstly it has a small solar panel on the top - this will keep its inner battery ticking over (so the manual says) rather than the radio working. Secondly it can be recharged via 3x AA batteries (compartment at the back). Next you can recharge it via a USB/micro-USB cable (supplied) and lastly it can be charged by a hand crank. These are all great options and I'll probably mostly use the last option most because I'll be keeping it down the allotment with me most days! It has 2 different lights on it - one headlight on the front which is quite powerful and the a desk reading light which is found when you lift up the solar panel. Both useful! There's also an SOS setting - so it emits a screeching noise and the front light flashes let's hope I'll never have to use this useful little function (as it will soon hurt the ears of anyone nearby)!
So... probably most importantly... how good is the radio? It's pretty good - ok so it is NOT DAB (hey what do you want for this money - the moon on a stick?) But it performs just about as well as other radios of a similar size and price and has all of the other features too. As long as it receives the main BBC stations (it does) then I am happy.
All in all a great little radio with a nice array of functions.

Excellent Solar Radio
This radio comes well packaged in a printed cardboard box.
The radio is very well made from solid plastic and is yellow and black in colour. I love this little radio and have been using it out in the garden since I was given it to test. On putting up the aerial which has a good length, I easily tuned into Classic FM. The sound quality is very good and there was no distortion. You can get both AM and FM stations.
The radio can be powered by three AA Batteries. The batteries are not supplied so you will need to have the batteries already or will need to purchase some. It has a solar panel on the top so when it is used out in the sun it charges the internal lithium ion battery. You can also charge it using the supplied Standard USB-A cable. There is also a hand crank on the back so it can also be powered in the case of emergencies, by simply turning the handle.
The radio is also a light which is positioned on the side, so it can be used as a torch when camping. There is also an SOS loud alarm great for attracting attention, it is quite load.
It is quite light weight to travel with, but solid enough that it sits firm. It comes with a small easy to follow manual but it is very easy to use anyway. It is the best of these style radios that I have been given to test so far. It has descent firm control buttons not the rubbery buttons found on some designs.
I have had no issues at all with this radio it worked straight away out of the box. I am extremely pleased with it. I love using it in my garden and house. It makes an alternative to watching the TV, without the electrical expense.
I hope you find my review useful. Thanks

Great for power outages, preppers, camping and outdoor enthusiasts
This could be very well the device to have on hand if we experience lots of power outages this year! It is also great to have as an outdoor radio/light source. There's a lot crammed into this compact radio!
This attractively designed, functional, emergency radio has a plethora of functionality including a torch, a reading light and an AM/FM radio. Additionally, it can function as a power bank, but this is not its primary function - the power bank has a capacity of 2500 mAh.
I like the design of this radio. The bright yellow fascia with a black body and sides looks really good. It is compact and also relatively lightweight at just over 350 g. The crank handle is mostly contained within the body of the radio and its overhang at the back is barely noticeable.
The radio is quick to tune as it is tuned by turning a knob rather than having a digital tuner. This really is no disadvantage as it is easy to scan through stations this way. The only thing is there is no fine tune knob, so you need to select the station and then maybe just turn the knob a little to fine tune. A LED illuminates when you are tuned in.
The sound produced is more than adequate for personal use. I also found FM reception to be excellent and didn't need to extend the telescopic antennae. As for AM reception it worked fine but I never listen to AM broadcasts, preferring the superior sound conveyed by FM.
When used with good quality earphones, this device outputs a pretty good sound.
The torch works well but what is really cool is the reading lamp which is activated by lifting the solar panel - the solar panel is hinged; underneath there is a 5 LED reading lamp that provides ample light to read by. Conversely, this also means that you can also angle the solar panel to catch the best light as the light doesn't switch on until the panel/light is almost fully rotated.
I have been able to charge this device from empty by both using the hand crank and solar power. The two methods work well to charge the radio, Indeed, they work so well that I have not installed any AA batteries in the radio; the hand crank and solar charging are certainly enough to charge the built in LiPo battery. This device can additionally be powered by a micro-USB cable as well as 2 x AA batteries. So, you have many options to charge it.
Being easily charged by solar (and also having the ability to hand-crank) is the killer feature for me. This means that you are not dependent on external power sources.
Are there any negatives about this radio? Not really - there's no Short Wave band and the SOS mode is at one end of a 3 position switch with the other end the light switch, so you can easily activate it. Once you are aware of its position, you are much less likely to accidentally activate it. The SOS mode is very loud and I consider it is probably meant along the lines of a panic alarm.
Finally, the unit is completed with a hand sized lanyard and there is a silicon cover to protect the ports of the devices.
In summary, this is a great device and excellent value for money.

A radio/lamp/torch with four different ways to power it...
The “Wind-Up and Solar Powered Portable Radio with Flashlight, Lamp and Powerbank” is a very handy all-in-one wind-up device that’s ideal for long camping trips and/or a post-apocalyptic Armageddon scenario!
First off, the wind-up radio is incredibly robust. It’s outer body/shell is made from a very durable injection-moulded hard plastic that can easily withstand general knocks and drops – which often come with camping!
Using the radio and other features is incredibly easy. It’s all very self-explanatory and doesn’t require any in-depth reading of an operator’s manual or anything.
In essence the radio has four options for power:
(i) Using the micro-USB cable that’s plugged into a power source.
(ii) Hand cranking it
(iii) Solar panels
(iv) Using 3x AA batteries
In essence what you have is a powerbank with a built in radio that can be powered/charged using the solar panel and/or the wind-up crank. Furthermore, the torch and lamp parts are incredibly handy extras that both work very effectively and produce plenty of bright white light.
For the very reasonable price attached to this I’m incredibly impressed. It’s go so many handy features for camping and emergencies. Furthermore, these features all work incredibly effectively in their own right – without anything letting the product down.
Really highly recommended.

Lots of features that work well
This little radio has lots of features that work well. I charged it from a USB mains socket with the lead it came with and it holds its charge well (being mostly used as a radio). It comes with a small instruction booklet that includes an e-mail address (prunus-technik@hotmail) and for every language apart from English there is a QR code. For any product that has a lot of instructions I like a digital copy of those instructions and I may contact the company to see if I can get a digital copy (there is no download on their web site).
As a radio the reception is clear and sharp and it works well and mostly we've used this radio as just a radio.
The hand cranked charger appears to work and charge in both directions and I would have liked the instructions to confirm that.
The solar charger conceals a reading light underneath it that cannot be switched off when the solar panel is raised and I would have preferred that it did, so I could angle the charger without that light coming on.
The front mounted LED torch has multi functions and on the brightest setting is impressively bright
The SOS button, as far as I can tell doesn't sound or flash SOS in Morse code but simply has a rising and falling siren and flashes the main lights on and off, so it's an emergency feature rather than an SOS feature.
I haven't used the alarm, blue tooth or power bank features but expect they will work just fine.
So, as a DAB and FM radio with a powerful LED torch that can be USB charged, hand cranked charged or solar charged (or even AAA batteries I didn't test) this is an excellent product, (though perhaps not in orange like mine).

Great bit of kit!
This is a great potable radio that offers a wealth of decent features. You get the radio, a USB-A to USB-C cable (no plug), and an instruction booklet, all in foam packing, in a robust, branded cardboard box. It is also very giftable.
The radio is smaller than I expected it to be, but it does feel well-made and it looks good in a smart black and orange livery, which does make it easy to see. It’s lightweight, so it’s easy to keep in a backpack. As well as being a radio, this is also a clock, an alarm, a Bluetooth speaker, a torch, and a power bank. As a radio, you get DAB and FM services; I was able to pick up a good range stations. The Bluetooth was reasonable, but it depended heavily on where I was using it. The torch is nice and bright, and easily matches one of my most used torches; you get a bright beam that travels some distance, a dipped beam and a combination of the two. The reading light is perfect to read by or just to have as a background light. There is an SOS alarm, which I don’t think you really appreciate until you need it. The power bank element works well, but it doesn’t work with the AAA batteries in place.
There are multiple ways to charge the radio: USB Type-C cable, a winding handle, solar power or three AAA batteries (not provided). Given the weather over the last few days, the solar panel element has been impressive, but I would say that generally, it will be better as a back-up, rather than your main source of power.
I do have a couple of small gripes. One is that the default language isn’t English, so the initial set-up can be a bit of a faff, and I had to resort to guesswork and a translator. Secondly, it isn’t waterproof, which is fair enough, but the instructions warn against using it in kitchens and bathrooms, which makes me wonder how it will fare in a humid tent or damp conditions. Time will tell on that one.
At the time of writing this review, the cost is £45.99, and I think it’s worth it. Happy to recommend.

The radio to have with you.
They really have thought of (almost) everything with this. While it does take a little while to get used to - mainly because it is rather feature-packed, it is easy to use once you understand how much it offers. My biggest niggle - which, in the grand-scheme of things is tiny - was that the units language/menus are in German by default when first turned on. You have to manage to navigate through the settings to change to something other than German ('Sprache' in the menu), but after that, you're good to go.
Also, for such a useful piece of kit that you'll find yourself wanting to take everywhere and anywhere with you, there is no form of waterproofing at all - The manual recommends avoiding even 'moist' environments, which is a huge shame to my mind.
The good points however are great. The torch is good, there are two types - the main 'flashlight' torch and another reading-lamp 'under the solar panel. The ability to use so many different power options - USB C, Battery, Crank handle or even solar is amazing and really useful (though, the latter would have benefitted some kind of waterproofing - especially in the UK)
The DAB radios is great, as is the FM radio. Being able to use it as a Bluetooth speaker is useful too! It can even recharge your phone if needed - I mean, that's clever...
It offers alarms, keeps time and date and basically is just a joy to have with you. If only it were a little more rugged. It's not cheap, but it is worth every penny!

Excellent Portable Radio.
A good sized portable FM / DAB radio with Bluetooth too.
When first turned on it was in German, but I soon worked out how to set it to English.
The battery was part charged, and I didn’t need to charge it further before first use.
You can wind the handle crank to charge it, and it is quite satisfying. You can easily get it from 1 to 2 bars in about 100 turns.
There is also a small solar panel - too early to know how effective that is, but anything to charge the battery is welcome.
For a full topup you can plug it into USB.
There is also a fallback 3xAAA Battery option.
DAB is our main use of it. This was easy to setup: scan for channels, then pick one - this took less than two minutes.
Good speaker quality, we’re using it in the garden.
Flashlight / torch is bright. Might be useful when camping.

Great Stocking Stuffer, and Yes, the FM Radio Works!
This is one of the most adorable stocking stuffers I've ever seen! As you can see, it's a small bluetooth speaker and FM radio in the style of a 1930s-era radio. I have to admit that I was skeptical that it could do much of anything, but believe it or not, it not only plays bluetooth but FM radio. For FM, you just have to plug in the aux cable and use the radio's auto-scanning feature.
The audio is fine for something of this type and price point, consistent with something you'd buy at a Five Below or the dollar aisle at a major retailer that has a bullseye as a logo. I mean, c'mon, it's a plastic ornamental radio. Are you really expecting JBL/Bose-level of audio? Besides, it's meant to be portable. So, for a day at the beach, a picnic or even an evening on the patio with friends, it's perfectly fine.
The only issue I can see people having with this is the controls, which need some getting used to. There's a system of turning the radio on and switching modes that you have to commit to memory. However, given how small it is and how the buttons are laid out to simulate an old fashioned radio, it's forgivable that there had to be a way to map the controls but keep the design streamlined, as there were only so many that could be placed on this. So, five stars.

This little speaker is approximately 2" tall and maybe 3-3.5" wide. When I first took it out of the box, I sort of laughed as it looked amazing yet also appeared as though it would sound horrible. Well, I was absolutely wrong as this little guy has a tiny sub in the back that actually delivers the mids and lows needed to sound like a real portable speaker! Then I noticed the little things like the fake leather print but that lighted dial was one of those BIG things as it's just beautiful. The knob adjusts volume and has an excellent range, doesn't crackle when using it and the buttons below are literally as pictured....very simple device to use and pair with my phone. The battery so far has lasted several hours with ease and the ports in the back make me want to really see what this little powerhouse can do but for now, it gets paired to my phone in the workshop and is my main speaker now! It's just too cool and sounds too good not to use. Now, is it Bose, B&O or even JBL? No BUT, it's blown every speaker I own away with with it's form factor, especially when compared to expensive portable Bluetooth speakers as this gets LOUD. Price to happiness ratio for me is a huge win!!!

Works surprisingly well, good value
I ordered this little thing on a whim because I was looking for something inexpensive to play MP3 music from an old iPod while on a cruise where I will not spring for the internet package. I’m shocked at how well it works. In the Aux mode, I can use the cable provided to connect my iPod. I tried it in the Bluetooth mode at home and it connects quickly to my iPhone, playing either stored or streaming music. The FM Radio mode is a tad complicated to set up, but I eventually got it to work. Plug in the Aux cable and it acts as an antenna. The ‘dial’ on the speaker is actually for volume control, not for station searching. Follow the instructions and the speaker will search for available radio stations. I live in a large metropolitan area (Phoenix) so it found plenty. It will remember the stations, and then you use the left/right arrows to page through until you find something you like. The dial-controlled volume provides plenty of sound while in FM mode and I am amazed at how little distortion occurs at higher volumes. Granted, it’s only a single speaker so you won’t get that surround sound, but it’s better than the speaker on my phone. However, do not rely on just the speaker dial while using your other electronic devices for music. My tip: maximize the volume from your device first, then use the dial on the speaker to control it and you’ll have plenty of sound. I didn’t test how long a battery charge lasts because I can use the charging cable to plug into USB port for power. I can’t wait to take it on my cruise. It’s tiny at 4” x 2.5” x 2” so doesn’t take up much room. That makes it a win-win for me. And it’s cute as a button to boot.

Tiny, retro radio, adorable, surprisingly functional and feature rich
The style is retro and I like it. All of the controls are functional too which is pretty cool - 3 buttons along the bottom translate to Backtrack - Play/Pause/Power - Advancetrack. The old analog tuning dial I was pleasantly surprised turned out to be a manual volume control (manual meaning independent from the Bluetooth volume setting).
I was particularly impressed that at this price point it still included an analog stereo line-in port, a USB port and a microsd reader. According to the instructions, the latter two will allow standalone music playback for files on a thumb drive or sd card. I did not try this feature but can imagine the usefulness in situations where say you want elevator music or white noise in a small area and don’t want to have your phone or computer tied up streaming it.
If there is any weak point it is the volume. It really does not get loud. That said, I don’t see that as its intended function - it is a super small personal speaker, meant for an individual or a small group who are relatively close together. It should be perfectly sufficient for personal use at an office desk, a guest table, or in a quiet entryway. If you’re looking to fill a room with music though you should definitely look for something a little bigger.

I think this Prunus is a great idea. Why just have a boring old Bluetooth speaker when you can have a cool looking one like this baby that can also accommodate a TF Card, an SD Player, or USB. And while we’re at it, throw in an AM/FM and Shortwave radio in a solid, retro styled case to kick it up over the top. For just under $30, everyone should have one of these as a Bluetooth speaker/player, but I am truly impressed with all the extra features, and the sleek retro styling that makes it look like an old Grundig or other Eastern European MCM radio. But does it work? Oh yes, and very well. The shortwave always work better at night when the VanAllen Belt is settling into the night time atmosphere, but as you will see in my video, I tested the functions of the radio and Bluetooth. Great sound, volume and a long battery life are appreciated. Clear instructions say not to leave the speaker plugged into the charger, or you will wreck the battery, so don’t do that. Charge it, play it until it goes out and then recharge it. I think stuff like this is long overdue in the Bluetooth speaker/player market and this Prunus really thought of everything that can plug into this device, even if we don’t use that format much in this country. It came beautifully packaged and worked right out of the box. Very, very cool, well built, lovely to look at, and it works great.I strongly encourage you to buy this one.

Beautiful addition to my desk!
I have been in the broadcasting industry for a very long time and am a fan of anything retro radio. This radio combines the good looks of old-time radio sets I remember from my childhood with the convenience and technology of the current day. I couldn't be more pleased!
Smaller radios generally don't have top-notch sound, and this is the case with this radio. It actually performs better than I thought it would, with a sound that surprised me. Is it an audiophile's dream? No. But it IS good for general purposes and it actually has some bass to it, so I can and do use it to listen to music.
I have a ton of bluetooth devices so I'm not keen on using this for that purpose but just for giggles, I connected and it works great -- I'd say it sounds better than running music through my smart speaker. The USB port is also a nice touch but I haven't yet tested that as I'm waiting for a thumb drive to arrive so I can put some tunes on it to enjoy while I'm working at my desk.
This radio admittedly isn't for everyone -- there are so many devices with bluetooth etc -- but it's a solid purchase for people who want a desk radio that combines the look of old-time radio sets with modern touches.

Prunus J-908: The Ultimate Portable Radio for Every Occasion.
The retro/vintage look is very aesthetically pleasing and makes it stand out. The only small hiccup I seen was that one of the chrome dials was chipped, other than that everything else was good. The functionality and versatility of the radio/portable speaker is quite good. Not only does it play AM/FM/SW Radio, but it can also be used as a Bluetooth speaker, be connected by an AUX cable and can have a Micro SD Card inserted into it with MP3 music files to be used as an MP3 player. The radio is also can be powered with a power cord, a micro-USB cord and alongside with its built-in battery, both hardwired modes charge the battery. The battery does last quite a long time, think I had the unit running for 10 hours straight and it was still going well.
The few things I found somewhat wrong was that the user interface/instructions are a bit hard and confusing. Without having the instructions people who use this for the first time can have a bit of difficulty in setting up some of the non-radio operations. The main thing I found is that when the battery becomes low the speaker starts to whine and have static sounds. Also, when low battery, when using the Bluetooth function when powering on the unit the volume dial having some strange max volume first to silent then to max volume. Once it's charged to a certain point, this weird volume anomaly goes away.
To sum it up...
- Positives -
1. Portable and Functional - Has plenty of options for you to choose from if radio is not your thing.
2. Epic Battery Life - Goes 8 Hours Bluetooth Mode (Before quality downgrades), 12+ hours Radio.
3. Excellent Audio - Clear and Crisp when not on Low Battery in certain modes.
4. Aesthetically Pleasing - The vintage look makes it stand out and looks good with most settings.
5. Versatile Charging - Can be charged with the included DC cable and/or a Micro USB.
- Negatives -
1. Low Battery Flaws - In certain modes the audio quality can drop and include static and whining noises.
2. First Time Use Confusion - Without the instructions the Radio's other functions can be unknown/hard to use at first.
Overall, this Radio/Portable Speaker is just plain Awesome despite its minor flaws. By far it's one of the best portable speakers that I've ever owned that's also a radio. I am extremely satisfied with this product and it's definitely worth getting/gifting to anyone.

Perfect radio for camping and emergencies
I am really impressed by this radio. It is simple to operate and has a light that tells you when you've landed on a strong radio frequency. The sound quality is really there, and it can go loud enough to entertain a group of friends while sitting outside by the fire or camping. The radio itself weighs close to nothing and is smaller than a cell phone (really more like the size of a money clip). It easily fits into pockets and can be packed into any nook or cranny of a camping backpack.
I was initially going to write about how I hoped it would come with a battery and be rechargeable, but I've changed my tune. By taking AAA batteries, it is easy to just pack a few extra batteries for a backpacking trip and just swap them out instead of having to rely on any other charging method.
If you are expecting a radio with bluetooth/flashlight/other bells & whistles, this is not the product for you. However, if you are looking for a small radio for when you need it, this 100% fits the bill. I highly recommend for any emergency or camping kit.

Great battery life even though the lights stay on all the time.
Very good battery life as I write this the radio has been on for 23 hrs and it’s still going.Sound quality is rich and has good volume easily fills a room, there’s no tone controls but the sound is fairly balanced.mp3 on TF SD card sound good too.Note the TF card is inserted printed side down and don’t try and force it in,it sticks out,see photo. The transformer does hum it’s not loud on my radio but it’s there and noticeable when you turn the radio off I recommend unplugging the AC cord if not using the radio. The radio looks great even in a modern setting,I just love the look of it,it’s well made and worth every penny.Tuning is also good and once locked on a station it stays there. If you’re looking for a large radio that looks good has great battery life plays mp3 on TF card and has Bluetooth,AUX 3 ways to power on ie AC power, rechargeable battery and in case of a power cut D cell batteries I would recommend this radio it’s great.
Update on battery life after 38 hours on the rechargeable batteries I decided to recharge them none the less a good battery life IMHO.

Great retro radio
The radio was a gift for my 78-year-old grandma. After her old radio was broken, the television was constantly on so that she had noises in the apartment because that makes her feel more comfortable, even if she was in a completely different room.
Since it is increasingly difficult to use technical devices, I was looking for exactly such a radio as the PRUNUS J-199. She grew up using the radio in this way, which is very easy for her. Two knobs, on/loud and station search. If she doesn't like the music anymore, she can change the station without any problems. The sound is great and thanks to the battery power, she can take it with her wherever she goes. The look is great and is mentioned by all visitors about the stylish new radio. Since then, music has been singing through the house again, the television is almost no longer on, it is once again well informed by the reports between the music. We grandchildren are happy about the additional functions such as Bluetooth. My grandma doesn't really care about this feature, it's nice to have for us.
We're all excited about radio.
Because I find it so cool myself, I bought it myself. We are completely impressed and can definitely recommend the radio.

Retro radio with modern technology
Completely satisfied!!
I was not only fascinated by the appearance, but also by the built-in technology...
The volume is adjusted using the rotary knob on the left. If you turn it on completely, you can still hear it in the garden. In other words, perfect volume, something for every taste.
The sound quality is clear, you can use the rotary switches, on the right, to search for the desired station... It is also easy to adjust and you have good reception. And I live in the countryside 🤣🙈 There is no
remote control, why is it supposed to be and display a retro radio with modern technology for music playback.
The radio works either with the included power cable, type D 1.5V batteries or a rechargeable, built-in battery (batteries)...
Bluetooth (J-199) USB Stick/TF card or AUX are the 3 ways to listen to and play back your own music... Radio stations, station search, everything works manually with the two rotary switches...
The user manual is in 5 different languages and very understandable...
All in all a GREAT BUY, I'm super satisfied and would recommend it to everyone...
The seller contacts a few days after purchase to ask if the device has arrived safely, everything fits, I have questions and is trying very hard...

PRUNUS J-369 Radio Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 22 July 2022 From Lauren Bell VINE VOICE
Great for power outages, preppers, camping and outdoor enthusiasts

A bit "tinny"
I wanted to get a little radio for the garden so decided to give this one a try after returning a different one that didn't work.
The radio itself feels pretty solid and well built, I gave it an initial charge via the usb plug and have been using it for a couple of weeks now and haven't had to recharge it yet so the little solar panel appears to be working keeping it topped up.
It picks up plenty of stations and there's a green light that comes on when you find one. Both the torch and the light under the solar panel work well and are bright and it has a flashing SOS strobe setting.
The only minor negative thing I have found is that the sound quality is a little bit tinny but to be honest I wasn't expecting a thumping bass and it's probably about right for this style of radio, having said that it is quite loud if turned up and more than ample for the garden or a picnic. It has a micro usb charging port (lead supplied) and a headphone socket, there's also a usb A socket as well although I haven't used it.
If you are looking for a little very portable radio for the garden, tenting or just a day in the park then I would happily recommend this one. Another point to note is that when I received it I asked the seller a question and they were quick to respond and very helpful too. For the price paid you get a lot for your money. An easy 5🌟

Impressive multi-purpose device
I’m really impressed with this multi-purpose device from Prunus, which is packed with useful features that work very effectively. The radio can be powered in three ways, so gives you total flexibility for any occasion. something for every possible situation you might need it:
- Firstly it’s rechargeable via USB cable (USB plug not supplied, but we’ve all got one these days)
- Secondly it can be wound up in an emergency for short term use, and
- Thirdly it can be charged by solar power
On your hols, out in the garden, in the park, on the beach, when travelling, in fact anywhere you like really. It is really robustly made and straight-forward to use. For the quality and the functionality I think it’s good value for money and would make an ideal gift too. Highly recommended with 5 ⭐️
Compact in size but offers decent sound quality.
Considering the size of this radio i was shocked at how loud it was & even though it only has a tiny speaker it actually has pretty decent sound quality too which i wasn't expecting.
During this summer we've gone off for a couple trips to the beach & done a few family walks so i've took this radio with us so i could use it when we stopped for picnics.
But something like this could be really handy for taking with you on camping trips, going to music festivals or even used as part of an off grid lifestyle as it's so much more than just a standard radio.
Its also packed with a bunch of really cool additional features, like doubling up as a Bluetooth speaker, it has a built in battery bank so you can charge your phone or other USB devices off of it via a USB port on the back.
And by far the best it for me, although it does come with the cable to charge it up there's a hand crank on the back as well as a small solar panel on the top to be able to charge it up off grid which with the rising energy costs we're seeing lately could be super helpful.
Charging it via the cable takes around 4hours.
By solar it will vary on the time of the year & strength of the sun, but in 86,000 lux sunlight it will take around 60 hours to fully charge.
Hand cranking will depend on the speed & time you spin it, but it can be span either direction to charge which i thought was good.
The orange lights on the front by the volume control represent the charge of the battery while the blue lights show its charging.
As well as the features mentioned above, it also has a torch on the front & a reading lamp on the top on the underside of the solar panel which makes this an amazing device to take with you when camping or hiking, as it can also be put in SOS mode in case of an emergency which will make the front light strobe & if you turn up the volume it will also sound an alarm, so if you was in an emergency situation during a trek, where you fell & was hurt for example, you could have the alarm & flashing light going to help rescuers locate you easier.
There's a slider switch on the back above the hand crank to switch it into SOS mode or to turn on the power bank for charging a phone.
While in radio mode the station dial will glow orange & there's slider switch on the right side to switch between AF, FM & SW radio stations, the 4th position is BT to turn on the radio's Bluetooth & connect it to your phone.
In Bluetooth mode the station dial will light up blue, there's also play/pause & skip track forward/backward buttons under the station dial to control the phones music without having to use the phone.
Overall i love it, its super handy to have as an everyday radio for around the home but is even better if used while camping, going to the beach, music festivals or living an off grid lifestyle.
Its really compact so doesn't take up much room but still offers pretty good sound quality for the cost & size.

Fantastic & Smart Emergency Radio!
I absolutely love this little radio!
This emergency radio has a ton of unexpected features built right into the device.
Firstly the device has multiple power options - it comes with a built in rechargeable battery which can be recharged several ways. Option 1 is by using the in built solar panel which you can angle in the direction of the sun (i also tried this on a really cloudy day and the charging indicator sprung to life indicating it was charging even through thick cloud!) to fully charge the battery via solar takes approx. 60hrs. Second option is via a hand crank at the rear of the radio - again this worked really well! Third charging option is to plug into a standard USB socket with the included micro use cable. A fully charged battery should last around 18hrs according to the instructions.
As a radio the device works great covering all wave ranges AM/FM/SW- the sound from the device is loud, crisp and clear. I was impressed at how good this mono radio actually sounded and how loud you could crank up the volume.
The device also has multiple other input options, from a micro SD card slot & a USB A port, to play MP3's directly from your flash device. It also has a Bluetooth function so that you can connect and stream music from your phone of other smart devices.
Emergency features included two lights, one bright light under the solar panel which you could use for general illumination in a tent for example, or as a reading light and another torch type light on the side of the device. It also has an SOS alarm function, which i found too quiet to be useful if i am being honest. One other really handy feature is that it can charge your mobile phone if needed also!
In summary i love this radio! I think it is well made, smart in it's appearance, has a ton of features and would make an ideal travelling companion for people who might find themself off grid! Fantastic bit of kit!!
Highly Recommended Product!
I hope that you found my review helpful.

Amazing Radio With Great Sound and Loads of Features
This wind up radio from Prunus is an amazing little bit of kit, that not only is a radio, but is so much more too.
In the box you get:
1 x Prunus wind up radio
1 x Wrist strap
1 x USB Charger
1 x User Manual
Considering this is just a plastic radio, it looks really nice, and when the radio is on the whole dial glows orange.
You can choose between FM, AM and SW. I didn't have much to listen to on AM or SW, but FM played all the radio stations I am used to, clearly and loudly; considering that this isn't a stereo, the sound was really good, and really loud too for such a small device.
Selecting a station was brilliant, so simple, just spin the dial, no annoying skip buttons to find the channel. it was very responsive and found channels extremely easily, the signal was very clear, even with the aerial down on the FM stations, maybe this is down to the high quality DSP (digital signal processor) chip.
OK, this won't replace your household HiFi, or best your top end Bluetooth speaker for sound quality, but this is a fabulous radio for outdoors, brilliant for the beach or camping. It is feature rich, way more than just a radio. This will definitely be with me on my next picnic out.
In addition to the radio, you can play MP3s from either a MicroSD card, a USB flash drive, or Bluetooth. Each is achieved by selecting the Bluetooth option for playback. If there is a MicroSD card or USB drive inserted, it will play from that, else it will connect to a Bluetooth device; connecting my Google Pixel 6 Pro was a breeze. When one of the digital options (Bluetooth/MicroSD/USB) is playing, the dial glows blue instead of orange.
With the digital options you get a play/pause button plus you can skip tracks forwards or backwards too. All of these worked well.
Charging is achieved by several methods, either by winding it up using the handle on the back, or by USB; a cable is included for USB charging, but not a plug. It can also be charged via solar power, although this would take longer, it is a good way of maximising your playing time on a beach or at a picnic.
The charge powers the radio for a good while, so it should hopefully last you the whole time you are out, they say 18 hours at 30% volume, but remember this is easily extended by winding it up to charge it.
In addition to the sound features, this can be used as a torch and an SOS emergency light, both ideal accompaniments for outdoor use. One further useful feature is that this behaves as a 3600mAh power bank, perfect for giving your phone a bit of charge to make an emergency call if you need to.
All in all this is a fantastic little radio in my opinion, I will be using this often, and I think that for such a feature rich little device, £32.96 is a very reasonable price.
Thank you for reading my review, I hope that in some small way it will help you.

No Long Wave but a decent traditional analogue portable radio offering good value
According to the box this radio arrives in, PRUNUS was the top-selling radio brand on Amazon worldwide in 2021 – visit the Amazon PRUNUS store to learn the story of the brand (why it is named for the Prunus tree) and to view the wide range of radios it currently has on offer.
This J-15 model is a traditional analogue radio that covers FM, MW & SW – but as it uses an American DSP chip there is sadly no Long Wave. It is ideal for everyday use on mains power, and on batteries in emergencies when the mains may be off for a while – it also features a useful LED torch.
The radio section has a simple AM/FM tuner with no DAB – you wouldn't expect DAB on this type of analogue model – and the batteries required are three of the large D type more commonly used in torches rather than radios these days. FM is really good on this radio, AM works well, but you do notice the difference in sound quality after listening to FM, and there is not really much left to listen to on SW any more since many broadcasters have moved their International services online only.
Currently around thirty-three pounds from Amazon this PRUNUS J-15 portable radio is a perfect for use as a kitchen radio, and the battery option makes it really portable when taking it out-and-about with you. This J-15 model offers good value for money and is well-designed for it's purpose – personally I would rather have had LW than SW but that is not an option and you will probably need to look at Roberts radios if you want a UK LW model. However, this PRUNUS J-15 portable analogue radio deserves five stars for features and value at the price.

All The Feel Of A 1970s Plastic Radio But With Good Sound.
The radio coms in a cardboard box together with a fitted power flex with a 3Amp, 3-pin UK plug, an a user manual. The radio is rated for 220V/50Hz AC electricity.
The radio is well-made and of all plastic construction. The handle does not rotate or fold down. The long aerial can be moved within a single plane, parallel to the radio. It does not rotate 360'.
On/off is via the volume control. Click on, turn up the volume; turn down and click off. Tuning is done with the rotating knob. The single knob has two grip points, the outside edge and smaller centre. Rotating the knob moves the line indicator along the wavelengths chart. When the best reception is reached, a green light shows.
Choosing which waveband to search for is done by a four-stop sliding switch on the front of the radio. The other sliding switch turns the end torch on and off. The radio can be powered by mains electricity or by three D cell batteries.
This is a true retro style radio in that it does not support DAB and neither do I. The bands covered are FM, AM, SW (2-10MHz) and SW (10-20MHz). I was surprised by how clear the sound is from this radio. I wasn't expecting this quality.
It's quite refreshing to have a simple radio with good sound. No bells and whistles, just a straightforward portable radio. It's ideal for your small work space or for your shed.

Great Job Prunus J-15!
This Prunus J-15 is a solid well built radio with built in flashlight. Covers AM, FM, and SW 3.2 thru 22 MHz. Built in AC transformer or run on 3 D size batteries.
The sound is great, exceeded my expectations, even at higher volumes. Total volume control means it makes a great bedside radio listening at lower volumes. Also has a headphone jack. AUX in jack is a surprise bonus.
Reception: Fm is wonderful. I can actually receive a weak distant FM station between two stronger closer ones. Very good sensitivity and selectivity here. Easy to tune. Holds dialed in frequency well. No drift.
AM daytime selectivity I would rate 3/5. Could not pull in a weak distant 1kw station between two 50 kw stations. Pulls in many 50kw stations from out of town at night.
The SW allowed me to tune in all my usual favorites. Ideal for SW frequency surfing. I like that.
Prunus did a really good job here. They also make a similar looking model called the J-15 Weather radio that includes the weather band in place of SW band 3.3 to 10 MHz you see here. It depends on you. To me the SW is more important.
Verdict: Buy one!

Affordable, high quality, sw is great
Very impressed with the build quality and reception. The handle is very solid and is molded all the way around...not the cheap kind that only the front looks good. This radio with batteries is not heavy but feels very sturdy and those big D batteries can really pull the flashlight great. It is not a tiny pin light...it lights up and directs a strong beam like a regular flashlight. You would be able to see to get around in pitch dark.
I had no problem picking up fm stations 85 miles away. The antenna is nice and long and feels sturdy.
Shortwave is perfectly fine. I immediately picked up a station I enjoy that is 600 miles away and had no problem easily picking up Cuba and other countries. I did not even hook up a wire....just got strong signals at night off the antenna it comes with. AM or MW works very good too. No problem enjoying lots of stations.
The sound from the speaker is good. The volume can be go suprisingly loud without any distortion. Headphone jack worked fine.
What I dont like. The tiny wheel within the big tune wheel is just useless and a joke I guess. Also, my particular one came with the select needle crooked. It slants noticibly but I decided to live with it. It works. Also, I am not sure exactly how accurate thr needle is on the dial but that doesnt freak me out at all since it picks up all the stations I want and many more.
I got this for less than 15 dollars so to me it was a very good buy. I actually intended to give it as a gift and loved it so much I greedily kept it for myself. Lol. The radio is really built well, not cheap feeling at all. I recommend it easily. If you want a nice radio that is truly portable but NOT pocket sized that offers good shortwave this is a good choice easily. If you want 100 radio quality, buy a 100 radio but this radio is above its price in quality.

Functional Emergency Radio
The Prunus J-15 is a four band portable radio, which can be used either with batteries or AC cord.
Ostensibly, this unit was intended for boomers: simple analog controls, aux input for audio sources, and a flashlight that is a solid plus during power outages, like we just had here in Texas.
What lies beneath the simple exterior is a very sensitive, and highly selective RF front end, which teases out weak signals, and locks in on them, providing robust, noise free, sound.
There are no tone controls, as the tonal balance, which favors the older user, sounds just right, even with the volume set low: I keep mine on the local NPR station, just to get a little classical while I review patient records.
Feel is solid, with a simple on-off volume control on the top, and a slow fast tune knob on the side. Other than the light and band sliding switches, that is it. This is not a multilayered nightmare.
The aux input works well with my MP3 player, and there is a very nice headphone jack, which I have not used, but works properly.
One positive for me is the short wave bands. I've been a short wave listener since the sixties, and this unit, even with the telescopic antenna, picks up quite a few AM stations on the 80 - 15 meter bands.
I heard CRI, Radio Havana and the Vatican, without any effort.
Is this a short wave listener's dream radio? No. This is a practical radio, for emergencies, or for an older listener, who finds the modern units more daunting.
I would recommend this without hesitation, and I've placed it in the garage, with extra D cells (it needs three) next to it.

Good Radio. Audio is clear and loud. Grat Deal for the Price.
I have only had it a few hours. I will update it, if other facts need pointed out.
A lot of reviews for products on Amazon, are comparing Product A to a higher priced Product B. But this is a $17 dollar radio. That needs to be remembered. Not a $100 dollar radio.
So for this price point, it seems like a great radio.
For this price, it is very good. Feels solid, and looks great.
The sound seems very good. There is no Bass or Treble adjustment. This radio does have a volume control wheel, which is more handy than button adjustment. A nice feature.
This is also a FM ONLY radio. It does that job well.
I actually bought it for it's ability to record FM radio. The included instructions are ok, could be better, but most of the radio is intuitive.
For recording, it seems to do that fine. No adjustments for bit rate. But the audio is clear.
I am using it to record my SiriusXM Home Radio. I use a FM broadcaster (bought off of Amazon.com), then I use this little radio to record the SiriusXM. Seems to work well.
Finally, in the product answers to questions (here on Amazon) it states that the TF CARD limit is a 32GB card. But I inserted a 64GB TF Card that was laying around the house, formatted it for Fat32 and it seems to be working. We will see.
The Radio will also play mp3 files. So you can use it as an inexpensive mp3 player.
The radio is small. One interesting design, is the FM radio Antenna is actually the "carry strap".
Really for the money, its a great value. FM Radio, MP3 Player, Radio Recorder, and it appears, also a voice and sound recorder (haven't verified that yet).
If you want a little FM Radio or MP3 player, with FM Recorder (there are not many of those around for this price) for under 20 Bucks, this seems to be a great deal.
I plan on using it to record favorite programs for listening to later.
I think it is a good value for the money.

Sexy bit of kit!
When I first spotted this radio on Amazon, I knew I had to have it. This may have been a nostalgia thing, as it reminded me of the early calculators - and there was something quite pleasing about that. The fact is, it's turned out to be a really great bit of kit and gets a surprisingly good FM signal - especially given the aerial is built into the strap.
But what I use it for most is to play music on a micro SD card and it excels at this. Plugging in a pair of headphones, the quality of sound is similar to that of my Samsung S9 phone. It could be the nostalgia thing again but I enjoy using products that aren't on my smart phone - guess I may be headed towards becoming a 'dumbphoner' sometime soon.
I did have a few problems getting the SD card in at first and I even contacted the company on Facebook. They replied promptly and were very professional (offering to replace it) but I managed to get it sorted by using my nail or the edge of a debit card - it's a little fiddly but not really a problem. So yes...if you're feeling drawn to this fun little radio, I'd say go for it!

This small radio has big features and sound!
When I purchased this, I was looking for a small device that would play music well enough to be OK to listen to. It arrived very promptly. It was easy to unpack and place the battery inside. When I first turned it on the display showed 'HI' and played a radio station. The sound was clear without static and could get loud! I went thru the AM/FM/Bluetooth/MP3 functions and they worked great.
They were easy to use (as well as the flashlight). It even talks to you and tells you what the mode is on. The battery charge status was displayed on the screen and it had about a 50% charge. I plugged it in and charged it. Don't really know how long it took to full charge because I just left it and went back to it about 3 hours later.
I had about 700 songs on a 32GB microSD card, so I plugged it in and used the play/forward/pause/back functions. Everything worked great. The sound was very clean and could be easily adjusted from low to high. I am so impressed with this I am buying two more for other family members. I would definitely recommend and wouldn't think twice about buying it. I was NOT compensated for this review.

Radio has all the features important to me
The problem with using my cell phone to play songs when I'm out exercising is, playing music for over 2 hours at a time, quickly drains my phone's battery. I decided to look into an inexpensive radio but I wanted several features. First, it needed to be small and very light weight since I will be carrying it in my hand for up to 2 hours. I don't like wearing ear buds so an good external speaker was a must. I didn't want the hassle and cost of having to continuously replace batteries. This phone's delivers all that and more. It's so light, it's not a problem for me to hold it for 2 hours. The location of the volume control makes it easy to increase or decrease volume as needed and I'm still on the initial charge of the battery and have used the radio for over 7 hours. I did have one question regarding the phone and customer support promptly responded with the answer. Lastly, nothing to do with the phone's feature but love the Red color. Give that the phone delivers on all the things I felt were important, I give the phone high marks.

Nice little portable radio!
I purchased the PRUNUS Pocket AM FM Radio Portable with Stereo Earphone, Battery Operated Radio. I think this is a cool little radio! It has a bit of weight to it, so I think it is well made.
It does not have a speaker, so you have to use the included headphones, or supply your own. The included headphones are satisfactory and the buds fit my ears OK. The AM does not play stereo, and I think the AM antenna is built inside the radio. For FM, the antenna is using your headphone cord, so having the cord stretched out may give you better reception.
The radio picked up all my local stations, and the volume was plenty loud enough to hear them. It has a scan function that adds the local stations to memory. It is easy to reprogram if you go into another area.
If it picks up something you don’t want to hear, you just press the M+ button a moment and it erases that frequency from the memory. One feature I like is the lockout. Just hold the power button for a couple seconds and none of the buttons will function until you repeat the process. This way, you can carry the radio in your pocket and nothing will change. I will use this radio a lot when my cable company decides it needs to cancel ESPN on game day again!

Good performing compact radio with solid functionality
For its nice size, the display and buttons are surprisingly large and easy to see and use. The included earbuds are pretty decent as well.
Reception will depend heavily on the stations in your particular area - their broadcast output power, distance, and geography. Assuming those factors are reasonable, this definitely has nice clarity and sound. I got some great, clear audio where I live.
This radio has a surprisingly generous number of preset options. Literally almost 200, so you can pre-program lots of favorites. The scanner feature works well to find new stations, too.
For me, it's a big plus that this can use conventional batteries. That means you don't have to worry about charging, and a fresh set of batteries will last quite some time. That is also good for emergencies.
For its features and price, this is a solid value. If you are looking for a good, reliable, compact radio, your ship has come in.

A cute quality portable radio with earphones. Wear around your neck.
Good quality AM/FM Radio. The only time i really listen to the radio is either at work and sometimes in the car but very rarely.. Am glad to have a portable for this.
Uses 2 AAA batteries and NOT included!! I ONLY use the lithium ion type batteries as they DO NOT leak and they have a long storage time.
Basic earphones that will get the job done. Do not expect some IMAX experience :-) Has a neck lanyard too. Very lightweight at 2.2 oz without the batteries.
With Energizer Lithium batteries item weighs in at 2.7oz. Would have been nice if a belt holster was included or some type of belt clip but the neck lanyard would suffice. You can just store in your pocket as it is very compact.
Has an orange hue backlit to the LCD. has automatic station search and a sleep timer too.
You can store up to 99 FM stations and 99 AM stations. 198 stations total. I doubt i listen to more than 2. Good reception for such a small compact portable radio!!!
Lovely radio
Works great! I got great reception with it, even with the antenna down (on FM) AM requires some fenagling, but doesn't it always unless you have an amazing antenna? And this is just a regular pole antenna.
But I did get several news stations and even some jazz radio. I absolutely love the look of this thing. It's old school looking and fits in with my aesthetic. Which albeit, is all over the place, but this fits right in. The sound quality is nice and warm, no shiny and bright here as you might expect. No, rich and warm which is very nice.
The volume is a slider knob on top, the dial around the tuning knob lights up, not too bright but just bright enough to see. The knob is a great size, and the unit stays put when turning it. I stopped listening to the radio years ago, but when I seen this I had to get it and now I've been listening. I have the commercials but it's another way to discover new music that I can add to my playlists later. If I like a song I just pull out my phone and tap on Google and see what song is playing and you know the rest...
I would recommend this to anyone looking for that old school experience, it would be great for a senior as it features an actual tuning dial they would be used to and not digital tuning. I actually like having to tune it in as well, it makes me feel like a spy trying to tune in perfectly to the station. Yeah, definitely get this.

PRUNUS J-112 Radio Reviewed in the United States on November 22, 2023 From kluj VINE VOICESips power and has versatile power-in methods; suitable for no-battery solar use
Radio picked up quite a few AM and FM stations here in Ohio. The multiple options they allow for power-in is great design; greatly appreciated. Even in poor light conditions (not directly facing sun, in garage with just a small ray of light coming in via garage door window slats on a cloudy day), a small solar panel is able to power the device at loud volume output.
The dial feels reasonably nice; certainly a lot better than clicking "+" and "-" signs on modern car radios.
The receiver radio consumes very little power; I measure less than 0.2 watts on an audible setting for personal listening in low-noise environment, 0.32 watts on a setting I would call "loud" suitable for whole-room listening in a somewhat noisy environment, and 2.7 watts in "my entire body is shaking apart, please work quickly auto-focus so I can turn this off" mode.
The low-wattage requirement and versatile power-in options makes this receiver radio suitable for using with a 5V solar panel with USB-C-out (battery optional assuming it's reasonably sunny).
Edit: I struggled quite a bit to get a USB power bank to work with this. The receiver radio consumes so little power while at a not-extremely-loud volume that power banks see the <0.5W load and shuts off. I considered opening up the radio and adding 2-3 220-Ohm resistors in series so the radio would waste enough electricity to work around the goofy behavior of the USB power banks, but instead settled on simply slotting a single LR6/AA-sized LiPo cell into the battery compartment and soldering a wire so both ends of battery go to the load leads (I had to tin the terminals in the battery compartment to get it to take the solder, and it didn't turn out very nice, but it works), conveniently with a charge board able to remain in place with the compartment lid closed (with the battery rotated a bit from how I have it pictured), and a connector I have an adapter for to recharge it in-place. I did note the radio seemed a bit more static-y with the LiPo at full charge, probably from being a bit above the voltage it was designed for; a LiFePO4 LR6/AA-sized cell would probably be a better option, but I don't have any spares on-hand atm. None of this is the fault of the receiver radio, and I judge it to reflect well on it; it is so efficient that USB battery banks assume it is a vampiric load, and it is the versatile power-in options which give me the space to slot in a LiPo with little effort.

Good little radio. Looks cool.
I experiment with radio equipment a lot (or at least recently) and I have wanted to get some basic portable radio to use as something to reference other equipment to. The radio has vintage appeal for its looks, but there are modern features that an old radio just doesn't have.
The radio can be powered from 4 AA batteries (not included) or with a USB power adapter that plugs into the side of the radio via USB-C (all of which is included). The cable is long enough that you can put the radio on a table and plug it into the wall.
AM and FM signals can be dialed in by this nicely backlit oversized dial. Again, vintage design with modern features. Going around the AM dial, I noticed that the station seemed to lock in at points. I don't know if this means that there is some digital tuning mechanism in there or what. It doesn't hiss and whine like the AM radios of old where you have to just barely move the dial to really nail the signal. I'm going to enjoy this feature because when testing older radios against this one as the reference, I will be able to get the old dials set to a more calibrated position.
Sound is as good as any portable transistor radio. It's mono. There's only a volume control. So, bare bones in the control department. But, that's exactly what I wanted this for - nothing complicated.
Recommended for looks and simple on/off operation.

This company makes several radios. Get the square one for emergencies, get this one for fun.
Ever since a hurricane knocked out power in my city for the better part of a week (and we aren't even on the coast btw), I like to have a couple of reliable radios for emergencies.
Prunus makes another radio that I keep around for that purpose. Look up their square radio that looks like it's from the 80's. It takes 2 D batteries. D batteries are known to hold a charge for a long time (particularly Alkaline); they are big, honkin' batteries so to speak. Good for an emergency. It receives both FM and AM pretty well, though I live in an urban area, so the radio stations are very close by.
This radio takes 4 AA batteries. It receives FM stations Beautifully, and the speaker has a little thump to it. No, you are not going to walk around the neighborhood thumping bass like Radio Raheem, but the little speaker lets you know "Oh, that would've been a bass drop on a subwoofer.".
Another reviewer said this radio doesn't receive AM very well, but like I said, I live in the city, so the radio transmitters are Right There. Therefore, I can't speak to that part for you.
What I Can tell you is I like the LED backlight on the tuner. Yes, it is wasting power, but not that much. My batteries are still going strong. It gives this little radio character. I like the retro, almost-60's design too. I say Almost 60's because it would have been Chromed Out if it had been made 60 years ago.
It amuses me that they are using middle-aged models for the ad though. Lol, anybody that likes radio could take this on vacation and chill with it, not just retirees!
The light and the dial make it look way fancier than the square radio, so for me, they each serve their purpose, and this one is the fun radio.
Oh, and it is very light, but in a customer-friendly sort of way more so than in a cheap-manufacturing sort of way. That obviously makes it a win-win for the manufacturer. They don't seem to have used the lightweight feature as an excuse to make it overly-fragile though.

A Great Clock-Radio Value
This is one snazzy, retro-looking clock-radio that has lots more functionality than the clock-radios of yesteryear.
First of all, the display is large and bright, but comes with three brightness levels, including off so as to not bother your sleep.
FM radio is pretty good at capturing stations, which is usually an overlooked quality on many newer clock-radios. And if needed, there is an antenna of decent size to bring the farther away stations.
It has connections for a USB stick and a micro-SD drive so you can play music you have in your possession.
And if that wasn't enough of options for playing music on this clock-radio, it will also serve as a Bluetooth speaker.
On top of that, you can connect via a 3.5 mm audio cable into the unit's aux-in jack.
All these can be played on the amp inside, which is stated to produce up to 8-watts, a lot for a clock-radio.
This is a solidly built brick of a clock-radio: heavy to hold and solid.
And it does everything a clock radio should do, and does them well.

The PRUNUS karaoke set (which is pink and gold—not my favorite combination) was a lot of fun to use. There are three components that need to be separately charged (via usb-c): two microphones and the main speaker set.
The dial on the speaker doesn’t work and is just for show (which is a shame—I think it would have made a great volume control). The speaker has several voice modes; for me, by default it came up with an annoying echo. The two most-fun modes are little girl and chipmunk (my names for what these sound like). These caused my daughter (in her twenties), my wife, and I to laugh and laugh. It was hilarious.
There is also a normal amplified voice mode. The tiny speaker isn’t a perfect Bluetooth speaker, but for karaoke the way my family does it, we found it quite usable. The novelty voices were quite amusing; and either microphone user can switch modes by pressing buttons on the microphone.
When singing karaoke at home for fun, one doesn’t need microphones, but this set makes it fun and ironic, even for adults. e PRUNUS karaoke set (which is pink and gold—not my favorite combination) was a lot of fun to use. The tuning on FM is a little touchy a small movement takes you past several stations so you need to move it slowly in crowded portions of the band. I don’t have many AM stations I can receive at my locations as I’m in a valley but this radio picks every station my more expensive radios do. On the weather band I pick up 2 stations the same as with other radios and both are loud and clear.
At this price it’s a bargain, you get a nice portable sensitive AM, FM and Weather band receiver just the weather band alone is worth it. It is the perfect radio to have in your boat, RV or car. This is a great little radio.

I call it a "perfect radio" because it's basic, no LED screen with date and time, etc., hold this button and that button to set the time, and this button and that button to set the date, etc., it's just a regular basic radio.
It's am, fm and weather, a slider switch to turn on and select the band, a dial for volume and a dial for selecting the station, that's it, plain, simple and easy.
It picks up very well too, I didn't even extend the antenna and I was able to pick up weather on that band and on fm I was able to pull in all the stations around here with no problem. Very small, very handy
I bought this radio about a month ago, maybe 2. I got it to use at the beach after my previous radio died. I bought this specific one because its rechargeable, has a digital tuner that I can set to the exact station, and has an earphone jack.
I combined this with a 10ft male/female headphone extender cable and a rechargeable speaker. This let's me put the radio where it gets the best signal, and move the speaker from my chair to my towel, or even hang it from an umbrella canopy without moving this radio.
The charge on this radio lasts me 2 or 3 visits to the beach where I spend upwards of 6hrs. I do turn it off when I'm walking or in the water, but that's still easily 4 to 5 hrs of listening for 2 or 3 days.
I haven't played with any of the other features on the radio, like the presets, but it works great for FM radio. I can't attest to it's built in speaker either except to say it works, since I don't use it ever.
Solid little radio that I'd definitely buy again, and will if this one succumbs to the saltwater!

Great reception on all bands
This is a surprisingly good receiver it is very sensitive on all the bands I live in the country and I can get bunches of stations on both AM and FM.

Impressive, Fun Retro Clock Radio
This is much more than just an alarm clock and radio. It also has Bluetooth capabilities and can be used as a Bluetooth speaker. There’s also a micro SD slot on the back and a USB port to play your favorite music playlists. In addition, you can connect a 3.5 mm audio cable using the AUX jack on the back. It charges using a USB-C cable. The port for that is also on the back.
There are clear instructions on how to set it up and use all the different modes. It’s easy to do. I was having fun with it after only a little bit. That said, there are a few things I’ve noticed. It finds radio stations for you automatically. There’s no dial to search for stations and save them yourself. It scans for stations, then saves the ones it picks up to the device. They stay saved until you have it search for stations again. There’s a telescopic antenna on the back that you’ll want to raise so that the device finds more stations, and they have a clearer sound. Also, time is displayed in the 24-hour time format. 3pm is shown as 15:00, for example.
This alarm clock radio has replaced both my alarm and my Bluetooth speaker. I love how it looks, but I also love how it sounds. This little device gets big sound that’s balanced and clear no matter the volume. I’m not an audiophile, but I’ve had a lot of Bluetooth speakers in this same price range. The sound this one gets rivals all of them and beats most.
I’m impressed with this clock radio. It’s a great value, and I highly recommend it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Feature-packed little radio that draws a good signal
The handle, which is a silvery wrapped thin cord, doubles as a permanent antenna. Additionally, the use of wired earphones will also turn those wires into an antenna as well.
The instructions make it clear that battery life gets greatly extended if you use earphones instead of the onboard speaker, but don't be afraid to use that speaker as the sound is very good. However, be prepared to jump the volume up quite a bit to use the external speaker, and similarly DEFINITELY make sure the volume is brought way down prior to putting in the earphones
Sound reproduction is crisp, signal pull is on task. If there's one caveat that should be noted, the setting of pre-set stations could be more user-friendly, but once they are sorted out the radio works well.

Great sound
I like the vibrant white color of this. I usually don't get white because of how easy it for it to get dirty and look gross but I couldn't help myself with this walkman and I'm happy I got it, looks great. It has really good sound and pics up the radio stations really well. You can carry it around your wrist, hook it on your belt, carry it in your pocket. It's not too heavy or bulky. I think it's a good size. I like everything about it. I haven't had a walkman in years but have wanted a new one for awhile now so I'm very happy I found this one! It's also a good value which is always a plus
