    V****a
Not quite good enough for me
For years I've listened to the radio on and off during the day and to go to sleep at night, to combat noise sensitivity and tinnitus and it's also a lot more interesting than white noise. I mostly listen to AM stations like Talksport and 5Live. My old Sony cassette/radio walkman was finally falling apart and I needed a replacement AM/FM radio. I do have a digital one, but the signal is poor here, especially at night, which is annoying to try to listen to.

I tried 3 radios that all look similar with almost identical layout. The Aiwa R-22BK, which I returned as the sound quality was terrible, even though it was £10 more expensive that the other two. I also tried the Retekess TR107.

This PRUNUS J-985 performed much better than the Aiwa, but the sound was still a bit tinny and had no real depth. I also felt there was too much crackling at the earphone socket, which either meant just a poor build, or probably a weakness in the future. The deciding factor was the Retekess has a bass boost, which makes a huge difference to the sound, for me.

So I returned both this PRUNUS radio and the Aiwa and have kept the Retekess. The PRUNUS J-985 still outperformed the Aiwa and is a fairly good second choice.
